CLAN RiverClan
RANK Leader
FAMILY Mother -- Beeflight
PERSONALITY Skaddonstar is one cat whose ambitions have been realized. While not a loyalty fanatic, he is pleased with his place at the top of RiverClan. He'd never been power-hungry or anything, but still, it feels good. He likes to conduct things from a distance. Sometimes he can be a bit aloof. He was raised with paranoia, never having had much of a family. Like many RiverClanners he is proud and haughty. It was a long path to the top. While he is curious about where he came from, it does not matter, because he has made quite a place for himself here. When he does interact with other cats as friends, he has a dark and far-out sense of humor. He doesn't have a mate or kits but doesn't really want them either. Live free or die, that's his motto. StarClan and the warrior code are two things he actually isn't particularly bothered with. Skaddonstar does whatever is best for the Clan and himself regardless. He is slow to engage in or lead the Clan to a fight, only doing so if it is absolutely necessary. An underestimatedly strong force, he is not one to be easily persuaded. When he gets something on his mind, curiosity will not let him forget it, although that does not happen often. He is too dismissive to command any more respect than the cats would think to give, but will always take the chance of proving himself so that will increase.
HISTORY Beeflight was a warrior who meant well but had a secret. It seemed to be a surprise when one moon she became pregnant with kits. She never told a soul who the father was, at least not one that spoke up, but hey, that was her choice. He was a shy RiverClan warrior until proven otherwise. Nobody was there when the she-cat gave birth and nobody was there immediately afterward. But then there she was, curled up in the nursery with just a single kit.
The kit Beeflight kept she named Skaddonkit, after herself; a skaddon is a baby bee, and he was her only little one. The kit himself had a pretty normal upbringing. He was quiet, observant, and did things he shouldn't. Beeflight did her best to care for him. However, as her son got older she seemed to steadily grow sad. On his sixth moon he became an apprentice, and that was the last time he ever saw her.
Lying curled up in his new den that night, Skaddonpaw thought he had a dream in which she visited him and said, "I love you, I really do. You'll always be my little one. Maybe someday you'll understand, but I hope you never do. You're well off here. Grow strong, and make me proud. Let yourself become someone the others look up to. I know you can. I'm so sorry I can't. I'm so sorry." Waking with a start, Skaddonpaw was alone, save for the other sleeping apprentices. Beeflight didn't die, but the next day nobody could find her. She had vanished without a trace.
Of course Skaddonpaw was hit hard, and always wondered what had happened, but it was in his nature to be able to move on. He became lost and reserved, but was set in making his mother's last request be realized, but for his own sake and to make up for things, not for hers anymore.
Time passed. Skaddonpaw was at the end of his apprenticeship when a band of malevolent rogues tried to invade the edge of the territory. He was the one who saw them first, and jumped in to fight. The rogues were driven off, but not before one took Skaddonpaw's ear with them. When he had finished healing, Skaddonpaw was made a warrior for his courage in stepping up to fight. His warrior name was Skaddonwing.
As a warrior, Skaddonwing remained an aloof character. However, he always plodded on ambitiously, doing his duties without complaint or disloyalty. Whole not the most popular Clan member, he did nothing to prove their suspicions. The Clan leader saw him as a perfect contrast to the usual leadership in giving input, and a cat who was waiting for and should be granted a chance in the spotlight. Upon the death of the old deputy, the young warrior who had already done a good job as a mentor was nominated in his place.
He who had endured much through the Clan had finally reached an improved situation. Skaddonwing took up his new duties and tried his best to put his kithood behind him, turning out to be a good but unremarkable deputy. Unfortunately for the previous leader, his deputyship was short-lived, barely a season-cycle. At a relatively very young age, Shaddonstar found himself at the head of RiverClan. He has been leader of a few moons now and looks to extending that for many more.
